Last week, six members of KrY’s team went to the province of Preah Vihear to conduct a baseline survey on pre-school education in the 5 target pre-schools of a new project launched in August 2021. This project will target two districts of Preah Vihear: Chheb and Chey Sen district. This survey was organized from 22nd to 27th November 2021.
The purpose of this mission was to gather information and collect data related to pre-school education in Preah Vihear by assessing the abilities of children aged 3 to 5 years in the target schools, in non-target schools and of children who did not get the chance to go to school.
KrY’s staff also met and interviewed the directors of the pre-schools, the DoE of Chheb as well as commune councils and organized focus groups discussions to make parents discuss about early childhood care and development.
This is the first time that KRY conducts a survey on pre-school education in these two districts and this survey should enable KrY to show the impact of its new project which consist in 5 new preschool’s buildings with 10 classrooms. Through this project which will last 3 years (from August 2021 until July 2024), KrY aims at improving access to quality pre-school education for vulnerable children in Preah Vihear.
